Metamorphonsis
Saturday
St. John’s Cathedral
The worlds of visual art and classical music collide this weekend as the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra closes its season with Metamorphosis. This is a very special collaboration between the SSO and artist Monique Martin as she’s transformed the cathedral into a magical forest adorned with 25,000 hand drawn, silkscreened butterflies. The orchestra will play on a floor cloth painted to mimic the forest floor and the pews will become rolling fields as they are draped with cloths painted with the help of North Park Wilson School. The entire space will be framed by live trees. There are two performances (2:00p.m. & 7:30p.m.) and there are still tickets available for the matinee for $56 – $62.
More information on the concerts here.
There are other chances to experience the artwork including a performance Tuesday’s student performance (7:00p.m.) as students from North Park Wilson School and the Creative Action program combine their musical, dance and storytelling talents. There will also be several drop-in yoga sessions, tours and a piano performance by Sofia Mycyk (June 5th – 7:30pm). Here’s a schedule…
