A message from Brit’s Picks
What a difference a week makes.
Just seven short days ago, my biggest worry was juggling our busy home life with plans to maximize my JUNOfest pass. Last Thursday many of our lives changed drastically thanks to COVID-19. Now, with event cancellations, school and work closures, I find myself fully engrossed in a different kind of event planning; keeping my family busy, happy and most of all safe.
I’ve seen the strength of our community this week. My friends who don scrubs and protective gear and head out to the front lines of healthcare, friends who continue to go on air everyday to deliver the news, friends still at school, looking after the students while worrying about their own kids at home and the artists who’s cancelled or postponed jobs have only amplified their anxiety for the future.
I want you to know I see you! I can’t wait for the tension to lift and for us to all gather together once again and celebrate our perseverance through all of this.
I can’t wait for the tension to lift and for us to all gather together once again and celebrate our perseverance through all of this.
Until then, I find myself focused inward keeping things going at home with homework and activities with my kids. We try to do a craft everyday and get outside as much as possible.
I’m trying not to worry about what the future will be and what my work life will look like when the dust settles. For now, all of that has to be put on hold. I promise to continue to support the arts community in anyway I can. When the concert venues re-open, I will be ready and snap up my tickets.
Thank you to all of you who’ve continued to entertain us online this past week. The singalongs, music tutorials, story times and even the live crossword puzzles have made us feel less isolated and provided plenty of smiles. I promise to share your events on Facebook and Twitter so that others can enjoy your performances.
Until we all see each other again, take care of yourselves and our community.
