It’s a chance to get up close and personal with a prairie musician that can hold her own in any venue. Rocker Megan Nash will take the stage at Underground Cafe to play songs from her most recent work Song Harvest: Vol. 1. The album about love and loss was recorded in a 100 year old church. Nash won’t be alone on this stage, she’s sharing the bill with B.C. country-folk musician Sarah Jane Scouten. There’s a $10 cover for this show.

The gang at Wide Open Children’s Theatre is back with some fun for your Family Day long weekend with it’s show Munsch Mania. A whole cast of new puppets is hitting the stage for a show celebrating some of Robert Munsch’s best known tales. David’s Father, Stephanie’s Ponytail and Thomas’ Snowsuit are among the stories that will have you kids giggling in their seats. The shows are 11:00a.m., 2:00p.m. and 7:00p.m., depending on the day, so you should be able to work in a show around naptime. Tickets are $10 – $15.

Saskatoon Forestry Farm

Why not bundle the kids up and head outside this weekend for a little fresh air and a ton of fun? Frosted Gardens has moved from the Delta Bessborough Gardens to the Forestry Farm Park and Zoo this year. This is a mini event this year full of all the fun you’ve come to expect. There will be live ice carving demonstrations, snow sculptures and even a chance for your kids to try making their own creations. “Little Chippers” is for children ages 4 – 10 where they can pick up the tools and let their imaginations run wild. Admission is free but donations are being accepted.

She’s known the world over as an opera superstar but now Measha Brueggergosman is branching out into the gospel world. She’s out on tour in support of her most recent project Songs of Freedom. The album celebrates and explores the world of African-American spirituals. Her voice will blow you away and the music will move you. Tickets for this show are $36 and they are sure to sell out.
