The Band formed as a blend of Canadian and American musicians that began in the late 60s and influenced greats like George Harrison, Elton John and Eric Clapton. Now you can hear its hit songs like Up on Cripple Creek and The Weight once again live. San Diego’s Chest Fever is the only act that’s sanctioned by The Band Official and the late Robbie Robertson to perform The Band’s hits. You can see the group live for $30 – $40.

Children’s Festival of Saskatchewan

Grab the little ones and head down to Kinsmen Park for four days of performances, activities, learning, and fun at the Children’s Festival of Saskatchewan. Old favourites like the fossil find and circus arts are back and performers include percussionist Robin Layne and dancer Karima Essa. This will be a beautiful day in the park for you and the family tickets are $10.

If you’re looking for a laugh why not head to the Broadway Theatre and see B.C. comedian Alex Mackenzie? This self-proclaimed happiness cheerleader is out on the road on The Happy Camper Tour. It’s not very often you have a comedian that capitalizes on uplifting stories but it’s what made Mackenzie a success. His stories of life on the road, living full-time in an RV will have you giggling in your seat. Tickets are $35.

Saskatoon’s got a new theatre company in town and it’s got a boundary-pushing play ready to debut. Lolabrickida Theatre’s founder and director Laura Negraeff created the company with the idea of telling edgier stories. Wish granted as the cast hits the stage next week with In the Next Room or the vibrator play. The story follows Dr. Givings, his family, staff, and patients as they seek treatment in his home clinic. It’s the 1800’s and along with the growing popularity of electricity is the medical use of a vibrator to treat women with hysteria. This is a play about women taking control of their lives and bodies and it uses comedy to address taboo subjects. Tickets are $25 – $35.

You still have a little more than a week to catch Sum Theatre’s brand new musical adventure for families. The Reel Whirled takes the audience into the online world as a trio of friends set out on a quest to get the attention of their favourite influencer. There’s music, giant puppetry and tons of audience participation. Theatre in the Park is free, you just bring a lawnchair or blanket and enjoy the show. The tour will start in Saskatoon till mid-June and then heads out for dates across the province.
