Paririeland Park

With trick or treating being a bit up in the air because of COVID-19, the Pow City Kinsmen and the folks at Prairieland Park wanted to come up with a way for you to celebrate Halloween that everyone can get in on. This is two different Halloween experiences all happening at Prairieland Park; Trick or Treat 2020 where the kids will squeal as you wander through the park. This show is a multimedia presentation and they have a treat bag for the kids at the end of the show. The second spooktacular is not for the faint of heart as Scaryland Park comes to life in a scary trip through the abandoned midway. You never know who will come out of the woodwork, be prepared to scream. You are allowed to roll down your windows for both shows but you must be wearing a mask. All the proceeds go to the Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital Foundation and Telemiracle. Tickets are $34.50/car in advance and $49.75 for the fast pass.

Sylvia’s Halloween Howl 2020

Children’s performer Sylvia Chave isn’t letting the pandemic put an end to the Halloween fun. She’s taking her annual Halloween Howl online for a music filled celebration. Get your kids dressed up in their costumes and log on to the On The Boards Staging Company website so they can sing along. The link to the show will be available 7:00a.m.-10:00p.m. each day so you can watch at your leisure. Tickets are $7 for a family or the group rates are $15 – $45.

Broadway Theatre

The Saskatoon Soaps are getting into the Halloween spirit this weekend. This months show is a celebration of spooky movies and it’s a two-for-one improv performance. The first show is Creeps in Space and the second called Don’t Go Into The _____, you fill in the blank and watch where the Soaps take the story. Tickets are $12 and physical distancing and masks are mandatory at this show.

New Voices: Emerging Playwright Readings

La Troupe du Jour

Young aspiring Indigenous and Metis playwrights are getting their big break this week as part of Gordon Tootoosis Nīkānīwin Theatre’s New Voices series. This is a program that has run for the last six months and the young playwrights have worked with local professionals to develop their stories. The stories featured will be Mihko by Nitanis Bear, To Die For by Risa Naytowhow and Hopefully Unromantic by Nic Scott. The plays will be read by local actors and it’s a great look at the future of theatre right here at home. Tickets are $10 for preview nights Thursday & Friday. Regular tickets are $13 – $15. Seating is limited as social distancing rules are in place and masks are mandatory for this show.
