In advance of his new album Every Soul’s A Sailor, Canadian folk musician Stephen Fearing is out touring the country. Fearing is probably best know for his work in Blackie and the Rodeo Kings but the artist also has an accomplished solo career. Fearing’s latest work includes the single Blowhard Nation which is a musical response to Donald Trump’s campaign during the American election. This is a chance to see a true troubadour in action. Tickets are $25-$35.

Persephone Theatre
It’s a show full of music and verse for all ages. Alligator Pie is by Toronto’s celebrated Soulpepper Theatre. The troupe is lending its show and talents to Persephone Theatre’s stage. The show is based on the poetry of Dennis Lee. The performance has been so celebrated that Soulpepper is taking it to New York next summer to celebrate its 20th season. It’s an hour long show fit for audiences 3+. Tickets are between $15-$20.

Get your tickets while they’re hot! Saskatoon’s Fireside Singers are joining forces with the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra for a show celebrating the power and magic of musical theatre. On Broadway is a show jam packed with songs from award winning musicals like Les Miserables, Oklahoma and Carousel. This is sure to be a sellout. Tickets are $52-$72.

Where does the play end and real life begin? Gordon Tootoosis Nīkānīwin Theatre (GTNT) is opening a brand new play by Kenneth T. Williams. The story centres around a woman struggling to get her kids back after they’ve been taken away by child protective services. The first act is the actual play and then in the second, the audience, GTNT cast, staff and invited guests like Saskatoon Police Chief Clive Weighill will take part in a discussion about the child welfare system itself. This is sure to be an evening of provocative art and conversation. Tickets are $12-$15.

Musical Masquerade Oct. 20
LB Distillers
This is your chance to wander around a cocktail party incognito. Little Opera on the Prairie is hosting its annual Masquerade event at LB Distillers this year. The show will feature performances by some of this city’s most prominent performers. There will be multiple languages and styles of opera all while you sip on a cocktail or two and sample culinary delights by Chef Anthony McCarthy. This show is the perfect date night. Tickets are $45 and all proceeds go to producing LOOP’s 2016/2017 season.
