Shivering Strings West
Fri. – Sun.
Various Venues
There’s nothing that warms you up faster than a polka or jig and quite often at the centre of that music, is the fiddle. For 10 years, Shivering Strings has been a chance for fiddle players as well as banjo, guitar, piano and accordion to gather and learn more about their instruments. The weekend features workshops, jam sessions and feature performances. You won’t want to miss dancing the night away at Saturday night’s Old-Time dance at St. Joseph’s Hall. The instructors will lead the all ages crowd in square dances, the butterfly and the schottische just to name a few. The public is also invited to the finale concert on Sunday. Tickets are $20 to the dance and it’s free for children under 15.
