Embrace the wintry weather with the magical puppets of Wide Open Children’s Theatre. This is an original story written by James O’Shea about Frosty, a bookish snow person who’s sent on a mission to find the heart of winter. Along the way, Frosty must summon up his courage to battle snow snakes and kangaroo mice along the way. As always this is a show to bring the entire family to. Music, laughs and plenty of audience participation are all included in this 45-minute show. Tickets are going fast and run $12 – $17.

The Saskatoon Soaps are capitalizing on the Star Wars fever and they’re doing it for a good cause. The improv troupe presents Star Wars: The Rise of Soapswalker. There will be plenty of references from a galaxy far, far away in this show. The best part is 50% of the ticket price goes directly to the Saskatoon Food Bank. Spread some holiday cheer and use the force all in one night. Tickets are $12.

The tradition continues for the Saskatoon Fireside Singers as it presents the 47th annual Christmas Memories performance. This 100-voice choir will feature holiday favourites and traditional tunes. This year’s show features special guest soprano Danika Lorén. Tickets are $44.

The cast and crew have all had a hand in crafting the story, movement and music in this tale of doubt, love and self-discovery. You can go out just for the show or have a lovely meal beforehand. ELF: The Musical is the hilarious tale of Buddy the Elf, who as a child mistakenly crawled into Santa’s bag of gifts and was transported to the North Pole. Buddy is unaware that he is actually human, but eventually his enormous size and poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth. With Santa’s permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father, discover his true identity, and help New York remember the true meaning of Christmas. There’s no denying the pull of Persephone Theatre’s annual Christmas show. It’s always family friendly and this one really hits the mark. Elf: The Musical is so popular, that even before its opening this week, it was extended right up until January. It’s the story of Buddy, a human child who was raised as an elf in Santa’s workshop but wants to know his true identity.
