Inspired by true-crime podcasts comes a tale of the first woman to ever appear on the FBI’s Most Wanted List. Girl in the Box is the story of Ruth Eisemann-Schier a grad student who along with her boyfriend Gary Krist, was arrested for participating in the 1968 kidnapping of heiress Barbara Jane Mackle. This thriller is a brand-new show from Scantily Glad Theatre that created last year’s SCUM: a manifesto. Tickets are $22 – $26.

The Incredible Adventures of Mary Jane Mosquito

From the imagination of Indigenous playwright Tomson Highway comes a story just for kids. The Incredible Adventures of Mary Jane Mosquito is the story of a young girl from Petit Petit Le Paw. Mary Jane is a misfit, teased by others who’s sent to the big city to live with her auntie. This is a show that uses live action, music, puppetry and Cree words and phrases to tackle issues of bullying and the struggle to fit in. There will be school performances as well as two public shows. Tickets are $12 – $15.

Some musical masters are coming back to where it all began. The Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra’s Homecoming show is all about celebrating local talent. Violinist Carissa Klopoushak, trumpeter Ryan Cole and conductor William Rowson will all share the stage with the SSO and the Saskatoon Youth Orchestra. These feature musicians have gone on to play in across the country and around the world. It’s a great chance for the young musicians to see that you can really have a career in classical music and for the audience to see homegrown stars. Tickets are $33 – $73.

Sask. Country Showcase

Some of Canada’s top country musicians will be hitting the stage in support of children and families right here in Saskatoon. The Saskatoon Crisis Nursery presents the Sask. Country Showcase. The evening will feature artists like Jess Moskaluke, Aaron Prichett, Jason Blaine and Tenille Arts. The show is set up like a concert at the Grand Ole Opry with a songwriter’s circle where three musicians perform and tell stories behind the music and then a featured artist takes the stage. Tickets are $49 and all the proceeds go directly to the Crisis Nursery.
