He’s taken the classical world by storm by fusing Indigenous culture and song with a symphonic score. Jeremy Dutcher has become a household name with his first album Wolastoqiyik Lintuwakonawa which used 100 year-old recordings of Indigenous song as its foundation. The work earned the classically-trained tenor the Polaris Music Prize in 2018 and a 2019 Juno. Into the Woods

Now – 10

Broadway Theatre

What happens after ‘Happily Ever After’? Thanks to Steven Sondheim, you don’t have to wonder. The Saskatoon Summer Players are getting ready to head Into the Woods. It’s the musical story of a Baker and his wife who long desperately for a child. An evil witch has cursed them and to break the spell, they have to gather items for her. Along their quest, they meet characters from the beloved Grimm fairy tales Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel and Jack and the Beanstalk. The music is wonderful and it leaves the audience to question whether there really is such a thing as a happy ending. I’ve included a clip from the movie version of the story to give you a little taste. Tickets are $24 – $34.
