This band spreads a message of funk and positivity where ever they go. Before heading out on the road, Bombargo is having a send-off party here at home. Tickets are $25 – $40 for this all ages show.

The Refinery

How far are you willing to go for success? That’s the question at the heart of Paul Grellong’s Manuscript. The show is hitting the stage at The Refinery this weekend. The story follows three ambitious students as the battle over an unpublished manuscript that could make them famous. Tickets are $22 – $26.

Nutrien Fireworks Festival    Fri. & Sat.

Time to send August off with a bang! The Nutrien Fireworks Festival is back for another year of music, culture, games and of course, explosives. Head down to River Landing Friday and Saturday nights to take in cultural performances, a petting zoo, bouncy castles and pony rides for the kids. Check out the website for details on how you can be part of the Meewasin Valley Authority’s attempt to make it into the Guiness World Book for longest sidewalk chalk mural. If you’re looking for supper while you’re down there, they’ll be plenty of options from local food trucks. The live entertainment will continue right up until it’s time for the fireworks at 9:30 p.m. with a different show each night. The event is free to the public, bring a little cash if you want to eat or the kids want to hit the rides.

From trendy flavours to locally grown staples, you can find something to tempt every palate in Riversdale. The number of boutique style restaurants popping up in the neighbourhood is evidence that our city is adventurous when it comes to food. YXE Eats is a food festival that celebrates local chefs and gives you a chance to sample our local culinary scene. 15 restaurants have a special menu set up so that you can sample what they do best. Riversdale businesses will open their doors for cocktails and snacks, a different one each evening. Don’t miss Friday’s food challenge or the family pasta making class on Sunday. Ticket prices vary from free to $100.
