You still have one weekend left to see a story of sacrifice, strength and sisterhood at Dancing Sky Theatre in Meacham. With Glowing Hearts by Jennifer Wynne Webber is based on true life events that began the women’s labour movement in Canada. This is an amazing cast that features music by Eliza Mary Doyle. Born Again Crow          Thurs. – May 19

The Refinery

A violent encounter and pressures from the outside world lead a woman to seek refuge in her own backyard with the neighbourhood crows. But things take a dangerous turn when the birds talk back. Born Again Crow is the final show of the Live Five Independent Theatre season. This is a show that combines a supernatural tale with live experimental music by Sacha Crow. Tickets are $22 – $25.

Stars on Ice                 Friday             

SaskTel Centre

It’s a chance to see the big names in the skating world throw away the rules and regulations of competition and perform just for the joy of it. Stars on Ice blends music that you’ll recognize with the tricks and flairs you’ve come to expect from big names like Patrick Chan and Kaetlyn Osmond. Legends like Elvis Stojko and Kurt Browning will also hit the ice for this amazing show. Tickets are $33 – $150.

Grace Westminster United Church

It’s a showcase of some of the very best talent in Saskatoon and surrounding area. Kindred Spirits Productions and the Warman Scared Scriptless Players wanted a chance to showcase professional and amateur performers all in one show. This variety show will feature performances by 12 artists like actor Mitchell Larsen who is just back from New York where he performed in his show The Gay Card. There will also be music from some musical theatre favourites like Jordie Houghton and a preview of  the upcoming Fireside Singers’ production of Evita. Tickets are $20 – $25 and available at the door or through the Saskatoon Academy of Music.

The Capitol Turns 5                Saturday                    

Capitol Music Club

It’s a bar that grew out of a passion for live music. The Capitol Music Club began when four high school friends made a bid to save the old Lydia’s Pub from the wrecking ball. They didn’t save the building but they did manage to rescue all of its contents. That’s when they found a new location and created what has quickly become Saskatoon’s hottest place to see live bands. The Capitol is celebrating 5 years in business with comedian Mike Dambra and a dance party. On Saturday night, Close Talker will take the stage. The band is getting ready to release its latest album How Do We Stay Here? later this summer. $10 on Friday and $20 on Saturday will get you in the door to toast this local hotspot.
