Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan Site

Dismemberment, disembowlment and a meat grinder, oh my! For the first time in its history, puppets are taking the stage to tell the Bard’s most bloody tale Titus Andronicus has been adapted by Stumped Productions. The group are also the founders of the Wide Open Children’s Theatre Company but we can forgive them this most disturbing turn. This special production is running on the secondary stage at the festival. Of course you won’t want to miss the other offerings at this year’s Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan Festival which opened last week. Hamlet and Merry Wives of Windsor also run until mid-August. Tickets are $10 – $40.

Perogy Paradise      Saturday

Farmyard Market – North of Martensville

When you come to Saskatchewan in search of a signature dish, it’s certain that perogies are one thing you’ll find in abundance. The Farmyard Market is tapping into our love of the tasty potato-filled treat and serving up some great entertainment as part of a brand new festival. Perogyfest is a day-long, family friendly festival that features performances by local acts like The Karpinka Brothers, Ellen Froese and Rugged Little Thing. The event is BYOB and guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and sit out around a bonfire and enjoy the show. There will be plenty of perogies and hamburgers to keep your tummy happy. Tickets are $25 in advance, $30 at the door.

Celebrated Australian comic Jim Jefferies is bringing his Night Talker Tour to the bridge city this weekend. Jefferies is known for his political commentary and will be sure to have a few Trump jokes in his set. If you want to check him out in advance, you might want to check out his Freedumb special on Netflix. Tickets are  $60 – $70.

Flavorite Event          July 17 – 22

Kiwanis Park

It’s a chance to tempt your tastebuds and sample some of the best our local chefs have to offer. Taste Of Saskatchewan is back for another year along the riverbank in downtown Saskatoon. 30 restaurants are taking part this year with offerings like peanut butter chocolate mousse bombs and octopus meatballs. As you graze in the park you can enjoy performances by local groups like Apollo Cruz, A New Ground and Stuck in the 80s. Head down to the shoreline to check out the jet ski racing on the river or watch as chefs face off to create dishes with 12 mystery ingredients in the Chef’s Challenge. The event is free for admission and you’ll have to buy tickets for each dish.
