It’s a touch of a European adventure right here in our own backyard. Quartetto Gelato is an ensemble that dabbles in gypsy rhythms, classical sensibilities and romance. The group has been around for a quarter century and has released nine albums. Brought to us by the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra, this is a show that is sure to dazzle, perfect for a date night. Tickets are $47-$60.

Put on your stretchy pants and get ready to eat your heart out as you ‘Walk a Mile’. Saskatoon Folk Fest is back for another year. This is a chance to see just how diverse our city really is. Sample some lefse hot off the grill at the Norwegian pavilion then head over to Sudan for a kebab. Ukrainian Karpaty and Scottish pavilions are there to if you need to whet your whistle with a Hutzel Hammer shot or a glass of scotch. This is fun for the whole family and a perfect opportunity to meet some of your neighbours and celebrate their cultures to. Passports are $16 and that’ll get you in the door at all 20 pavilions. bring some cash to cover food and drink… and maybe a little souvenir shopping. There’s shuttle service from Market Mall, Centre @ Circle & 8th and Lawson Heights Mall every 10-15 minutes.

Bessborough Gardens
It’s a trip down memory lane for those who love to rock. Rock the River is back for another year and boasts acts that you can sing along to. This year’s roster includes 54-40, Sass Jordan, Starship featuring Mickey Thomas and hometown heros Northern Pikes, just to name a few. Tickets are going fast $52 for a day pass and $135 for the full weekend.

A Fond Farewell Saturday
The Capitol Music Club & Roxy Theatre
They’ve played to sold out shows right across Canada and now you can experience a little bit of the magic that is The Tragically Hip. The Hips final show will be staged this weekend where it all began in Kingston ON. Since we all can’t be there, why not join other fans at a pair of celebrations here in Saskatoon.
The Capitol Music Club will be showing the concert on the big screen in the club and then right after the show, Tragically Hip tribute band “100th Meridian” will be playing all your favourite tunes. Admission is free, donations to cancer research are being collected. Click here for more details.
The Roxy Theatre is having its own farewell to Gord Downie and the rest of the band Saturday night as well. There will be a screening of the final show in the theatre. This celebration is an all ages event so bring the family. Admission is free but donations will be collected for the Gord Downie Fund For Brain Cancer Research. More details here.
