Sum Theatre’s Theatre in the Park is back for another outdoor theatre adventure with The Colour of the Town. It’s the 14th season for this live professional performance the whole family can enjoy together with stops in neighbourhood parks throughout Saskatchewan. This year’s play was collectively created from a story by playwright Jenna “JB” Berenbaum. It follows the people of Taupe Town who are challenged by their young residents to look beyond their current colour preference and embrace all the possibilities. It’s a lesson in democracy full of original music and giant puppetry that we’ve all come to know from this annual summer tradition. You’re sure to find Sum at a park near you in the next few weeks. Here’s a link to the full schedule.
Kashmir
Thurs. & Fri.
The Bassment
Led Zeppelin fans get ready because Saskatoon’s own Kashmir is headed to The Bassment to blow the roof off the place with all the hits. Kashmir was started in 1997 and has always had the goal of making its sound a true recreation of Led Zeppelin. They tour all over the country and now you can see Kashmir right here at home. Tickets are $31 – $41.

A new live music and dance performance is headed your way from Flameco Borealis. Flamenco Odyssey will take the audience on a voyage through emotion, song, and of course the incredible power of flamenco dance. Tickets are $28 – $39 and are sold out on the website but check social media because plans change and you might get lucky.
Check out Flamenco Borealis’ website here.
John Shambles
Friday
Coors Event Centre
You may recognize his voice as the lead singer of Canadian rock band The Glorious Sons but this is the sound of a new chapter for Brett Emmons. He’s taking a shot at a solo career as his alter ego John Shambles. Emmons is quieter, folkier (is that a word?) with his new album Cabin Fever and he’s out on tour to promote. You can catch him at the Coors Event Centre for $43.

The Back Backrooms
Friday
Broadway Theatre
The Saskatoon Soaps are back with another night of hilarious improv theatre with The Back Backrooms. This months show, (according to the website) it’s all about the strange encounter, the endless fluorescent lighted rooms… this sounds like a recipe for insanity or at least an insanely good time. Tickets are $16.
Dino Archie
Saturday
Art Bar
California comedian, writer, and podcaster Dino Archie has been featured on Comedy Central and made his late night debut with Jimmy Kimmel, made appearances at Just of Laughs and has won a bunch of awards for his crow work. Now you can see Archie live, only weeks after his first comedy special Beautiful Burden premiered. There are two shows to check out 7pm & 9pm. Tickets are $30 – $40.
