Have you ever leaned in to hear someone else’s whisper or tried to eavesdrop on a disagreement? 25th Street Theatre is taking audience’s Behind Closed Doors for a theatre experience unlike any other. They are breaking away from the traditional stage to present six short plays, written by local playwrights, and performed in unusual site-specific spaces. It’s like a choose-your-own-adventure as you travel to places like a school bus, a local coffee shop, and even a bar bathroom for stories that only happen in private spaces. You can see a single show for $10 – $15 or grab a passport for all six at $60.

Blithe Spirit

Persephone Theatre closes out its season with a comedy Blithe Spirit about Charles, a novelist who’s invited a medium to his home for research on his new book. The dinner party seems to be going well until the séance is successful and Charles hears from the ghost of his first wife who’s trying to get rid of his new one. Tickets are $57 – $71.

Gordon Tootoosis Nīkānīwin Theatre in partnership with Burnt Thicket Theatre brings you a world premiere of Apples & Train Tracks. This is a play inspired by real life experiences of Saskatchewan Métis living on the Road Allowance. We meet Charlie who’s working through intergenerational trauma as as his tries to find a new life with his wife Rose. But he’s haunted by the lasting impact on his parents of a 1940’s government program that eradicated Métis Road Allowance Communities by sending residents to remote rehabilitation farms in the north. Tickets are Pay-What-You-Choose with suggested prices $10 – $50.

Explore the beauty of French cinema with a four day festival. The Cinergie International Francophone Film Festival is back for another year. It’s a selection of the best recent French-speaking Canadian and International films that reflect the culture around the world. All films are presented with English surtitles so its open to everyone. Tickets start at $8 and an all access pass is $60.

The Saskatoon Blues Festival is back for two nights of music. Friday night features the guitar stylings of Brandon Isaak and vocalist Harrison Kennedy. Saturday night its the return of Shakura S’Aida and Charlie Jacobson. Tickets are $65 for a single night and a weekend pass for $110.

The Traveller

It’s the celebration of a quarter century of friendship and the meaning of home. The Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra welcomes conductor/composer/pianist Dinuk Wijeratne and clarinetist/composer Kinan Azmeh for The Traveller. This concert marks the first time these two friends have presented a full program of their music together on stage. It will be an evening of classical music, improvisation and camaraderie. Tickets are $50 – $103.

Canadian actor, director and comedy legend Tom Green is out on the road for a 30 city Canadian tour and he’s stopping in Saskatoon for a show this weekend. The Stompin’ Comedy Tour blends stories from his time in the entertainment industry with his signature sarcastic style. Tickets are $59.

If you love comics, anime, superheroes, and fantasy, you’re going to want to head to Prairieland Park this weekend. Pop Con is back for another year of cosplay with special appearances by WWE wrestling star Ted DiBiase known to his fans as “The Million Dollar Man” and Shazam! himself, actor Zachary Levi as well as many more. There will be comic book creators to meet and masters at cosplay everywhere. Tickets start at $15 dollars with a family pass for $96.

Wood’s music has been featured on television and he’s toured tirelessly giving him a huge fan base right across the country. His latest album Dear John is beautiful. Wood will share the stage with Newfoundland duo Fortunate Ones. Tickets are $54.
