Gordon Tootoosis Nīkānīwin Theatre’s Circle of Voices team is back with a new production Greed N’ Graves. The story is set in 2080 where a Phil N. Graves, a scientist / billionaire has just passed away and his will is about to be read. As family and people from his past arrive, they learn they will have to compete for the $1.29 Billion inheritance. Tickets are Pay-What-You-Can and all proceeds go to the Circle of Voices program which develops young Indigenous youth in theatre.

The soon-to-be cult classic Nirvanna: The Band – The Show – The Movie will be screening at The Broadway Theatre Thursday night. This is a show packed with pop culture references, gags, and unbelievable set pieces. The time travel mockumentary tells the story of a band 20 years deep of trying to get a gig at The Rivoli, a famed Toronto music venue. They take the matter, and time into their own hands, rewriting the future. Tickets are $14.

The Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra is getting ready for a North American premiere of composer Rebecca Dale’s Night Seasons featuring Canadian cello superstar Stéphane Tétreault. The music was inspired by Dale’s own journey through tough times. This is a performance that will blow you away with a full orchestra, Tétreault, Aurora Voce, and the Greystone Singers. Also on the program, a special performance by the Saskatoon Youth Orchestra alongside their SSO mentors. Tickets are $50 – $103.

The Grapes of Wrath

They exploded onto the Canadian music scene in the late 80s, early 90s with hits like All The Things I Wasn’t and You May Be Right. The group disbanded in 1992 and then reunited in with the original lineup in 2009. After four decades, The Grapes of Wrath are coming to Saskatoon for an unplugged set featuring Kevin Kane and Tom Hooper. This will be an evening of rock and stories from the road. Tickets are $30 – $52.

Take a comedic trip into a dark period of history as Luminaire Theatre Works presents Witches!? In Salem?!. This show is a satirical response to Arthur Miller’s The Crucible about the 1692 Salem Witch Trials. If you’re a fan of Monty Python, this play is just as silly and irreverent as it pokes fun at society and its persecution of people for witchcraft. Tickets are $30 – $35.

How Chee

It’s a low-budget television commercial for The Great Buffet of China that has become Saskatoon lore and now a documentary digs deep into How Chee. The film comes from director Craig Silliphant and Thoughtlab Media and takes a deep dive into the cast, the origins of the commercial, and an unlikely friendship between an immigrant restaurant owner and the university professor who set out to help him save his business. The evening will feature a screening and then a Q&A wtih several of the cast members and the filmmakers hosted by CTV’s Jeff Rogstad. Tickets for the premiere are $15.

Just in time for the Easter break, Wide Open Children’s Theatre returns with a new puppet adventure. BALLOON-ATIC is a sweet table-top puppet performance that tells the story of The Old Man who lives alone and is preparing to celebrate his birthday. Much to his surprise, his solitary celebration is interrupted by a playful red balloon. Tickets are $12 – $17.
