Murder, Music & Murdoch Mysteries Live with the SSO
Music, passion, and solid detective work; the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra will crack the case with the help of some famous friends as it presents Murdoch Mysteries: Live in Concert.
Based on the novels by Maureen Jennings, Murdoch Mysteries transports the audience back to Toronto in the early 20th Century as Detective William Murdoch uses the most innovative forensics for the time to solve some of the city’s most gruesome murders. The beloved tv series is enhanced by the music of Emmy Award- nominated composer Rob Carli and this concert will be a masterclass in the soundtrack he’s created.
“It’s a rare chance to see how the music behind the show is made”

Series star Thomas Craig (Detective Brackenreid) will host this immersive performance that blends music, video, and storytelling. Craig, Carli, and the SSO, led by conductor Lucas Waldin, pull back the curtain on the hit CBC series to explore pivotal scenes and show the audience the key role music plays in the television drama.
“It’s not just a concert,” says Craig. “It’s a rare chance to see how the music behind the show is made, and how it brings every scene to life. With the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra on board, it’s going to be a brilliant night. I reckon the audience is in for something really special.”
“Murdoch Mysteries wouldn’t be the same without the incredible music”
The second half of the concert will feature Murder in F Major, a full episode of the series up on the big screen as the SSO performs the score live.
“We have so much fun sharing the magic of soundtracks through live music, and this concert gives audiences a new way to enjoy the music behind the show they love so much,” says the SSO’s Megan Grier. “Having the composer and one of the lead actors guide us through the night makes it extra special. Murdoch Mysteries wouldn’t be the same without the incredible music.”

“We’ve performed it across the country and people often say they’re not really certain what to expect,” says Carli. “They always go away delighted having learned something. We’re really proud of being able to show people what music can add to a scene.”
“We’re chuffed to be bringing something this unique to Saskatoon”
For Murdoch fans, there’s tickets available for an exclusive VIP meet and greet with Thomas Craig. CBC Saskatoon is also running a “night on the town” contest that will include dinner, a limo ride to the performance, Harden & Huyse chocolates, VIP tickets, and exclusive Murdoch Mysteries merchandise.
“The fans of Murdoch Mysteries are some of the most loyal and passionate you’ll find anywhere” says Craig. We’re chuffed to be bringing something this unique to Saskatoon.”
