You still have a few chances to see Persephone Theatre’s powerful production of Keith Barker’s This Is How We Got Here. It’s a story of a family’s strength after an unimaginable tragedy. Paul and Lucille’s son took his own life and in the aftermath the family is unravelling that is, until a mysterious creature visits. This is a powerful performance with an accomplished cast that’s been getting great reviews. Tickets are $37 – $47.

An Underfunded Love Story

It’s all over the news and now you can see the issue of teachers and their current labour negotiations, with a comic twist. The Saskatoon Soaps present An Underfunded Love Story, this is the improv troupes show in support of the teachers, they even get a deal on tickets. It might be a chance for everyone to let off a little steam and laugh together. Tickets are $15.

He’s the sound of Saskatoon’s Blues scene and B.C. Read is back at the Bassment this weekend to wow the crowd. Read’s sound is a howlin’ good time infusing blues with a mix of original music and covers. There’s a reason why he’s been steadily performing for 40 years. Tickets are $28 – $38.

Just in time for the February break from school Wide Open Children’s theatre are back with its take on Jack and the Beanstalk. This show has a pirate flair to get the kids excited to hear a familiar tale. Captain Jack is searching the clouds for a long lost treasure. This show will feature the muppet style puppets we all know and love as well as shadow puppets and singalongs. A show the whole family can enjoy together. Tickets are $12 – $17.

The SSO takes to the stage with a celebration of music from the 1920s featuring guest conductor Mélanie Léonard and celebrated Canadian pianist Daniel Clarke Bouchard. The program is filled with Gershwin, fitting as it’s the centennial of the composers Rhapsody in Blue. Also on the program Gershwin’s American in Paris and William Grant Still’s Symphony No. 1 “Afro-American”. This concert is sure to be the “bee’s knees”. Tickets are $45 – $93.

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, celebrated Canadian singer-songwriter Dallas Green is out on a cross-country tour, it’s his first in five years. It’s all in support of his latest album The Love Still Held Me Near. It’s a soulful album with nods to gospel music and southern rock. Green is bringing along some famous pals for the show. Special guests include R&B stylings of Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats and Canadian indie darling Ruby Waters. Tickets are $68 – $109.
