There’s plenty of fun in Kinsmen Park this weekend. The Nutrien Children’s Festival of Saskatchewan is back with an in-person festival this weekend. Catch the hoops and acrobatics of the Dr. Seuss Circus Show, storytelling by Joseph Naytowhow and the science fun of Al Simmons on the Blue Sky Stage. Other performers like Flyin’ Bob and Fable The Fairy will weave their way through the festival site entertaining crowds. There’s also activity stations like the very popular Fossil Find and Kindergarden that will keep your kids busy all day. Tickets are $10 and children under 2 are free. You can also get in on the fun virtually on the festival’s YouTube channel.

It’s a big anniversary for Sum Theatre and its annual production of Theatre in the Park. This year, the 10th season, is earlier to avoid the extreme heat, wild winds and thunderstorms we’ve experienced these past few July’s. The company has a brand-new production created to entertain families. wâhkôhtowin is an original tale filled with music, puppetry and movement that teaches us all the importance of rebuilding connections with each other and our environment. You have until next Friday (June 3) to see the show in Saskatoon. The production then heads to neighbourhood parks in Regina & area as well as new dates in Saskatchewan’s north. The best part about this performance is it’s absolutely free. THIS WEEKEND’S PERFORMANCES: Rosewood & Richmond Heights.

Dark Bridges Film Festival

Horror film lovers unite! The Dark Bridges Film Festival is back and returning to its roots this year. The festival, founded in 2009, features a carefully curated schedule of scare. Films like Saskatoon produced The Druid’s Hand, Sexykiller: You’ll Die For Her and Watcher are all on the program. Grab your popcorn and steel your nerves. Single tickets are $7 – $10 and an all access wristband is $90.

Rapper, radio host, documentarian, the last decade has proven Shad knows the power of hip-hop to entertain and educate a crowd. The Toronto rapper released his latest album TAO in September and is touring across Canada. This is a show full of important and uplifting lyrics and great to groove along to. Tickets are $20 – $25.

He’s known for his biting, observational comedy around the world and now Jim Jefferies is bringing The Moist Tour to Saskatoon for one night only. The Australia native was named Stand-Up Comedian of the Year by the Just for Laughs Festival in 2019. You may have seen his tv series, or one of his Netflix specials or even listened to his current podcast I Don’t Know About That with Jim Jefferies. Tickets are $57 – $117 for a night full of laughs.
