Canadian singer, songwriter rounds out his 3-gig residency at The Bassment Thursday night. Wood has married into Saskatoon roots as his wife Alison is from here. He’s been playing new music as well as old favourites throughout the province while he’s here. Wood is a favourite here in Saskatchewan and it’s a soothing, beautiful evening filled with stories and song. Tickets are $35 – $45.

The Saskatoon Jazz Orchestra says, “All you need it love… and tickets to this performance.” This is a celebration a long time coming. The original concert date was put off because of Covid but now it’s finally happening. The Fab 4 & More is the SJO’s take on iconic Beatles tunes featuring guest artist Robert Walsh. With Saskatoon talent like this, it’ll be worth the wait. Tickets are $15 – $30.

Jonas and Barry in the Home

A charming story about aging and a search for new purpose awaits you at Dancing Sky Theatre in Meacham this weekend. Jonas and Barry in the Home is a touching tale by Canadian playwright Norm Foster. Saskatchewan favourites Blaine Hart and Kent Allen play Jonas and Barry, two men who when forced together, discover new joy and friendship. $25 – $30 for tickets to this performance.

Saskatoon Wildlife Festival

Prairieland Park       

Alligators, porcupines, parrots and more… Your kids can get up close and personal with wildlife of all stripes this weekend at Prairieland Park. Calgary’s Nature Centre Cobb’s Adventure Park & Cobb’s Exotic Animal Rescue are out on the road with their furry friends for a show that’s all about education and respect for exotic pets. The roadshow was just in Regina and now, it’s Saskatoon’s turn. Tickets to the show are $16 – $18.

It’s a play/film about something we just don’t talk about. Breaking the Curse is an exploration of menstruation through a verbatim piece of theatre. People’s stories all woven together to create a larger picture of what half of the population deals with. It’s funny, poignant, sometimes cringey and straight to the point… period! You can see this performance digitally on demand until Sunday. This show is a pay-what-you-can format at $16 – $41.

It’s a big anniversary for Sum Theatre and its annual production of Theatre in the Park. This year, the 10^th season, is earlier to avoid the extreme heat, wild winds and thunderstorms we’ve experienced these past few July’s. The company has a brand-new production created to entertain families. wâhkôhtowin is an original tale filled with music, puppetry and movement that teaches us all the importance of rebuilding connections with each other and our environment. You can catch the tour here in Saskatoon until June 3. The production then heads to neighbourhood parks in Regina & area as well as new dates in Saskatchewan’s north. The show is free to all.
