The jazz festival is in full swing in our city. The streets downtown are flooded with music and there’s still plenty of events to take in. From the free concerts like The Sons of Django and Funkjoint to the tickets shows like one of my current obsessions People of the Sun. The festival wraps on Sunday with a performance on the mainstage by The Northern Pikes. If you need a little relaxation, check out the noon yoga sessions in the Bessborough Gardens. There are many price points for these events from free to $50.

Saskatoon Ex

Prairieland Park

High flying motorcycles, live music, midway rides and yes, of course, food; the Saskatoon Ex is in full swing in Saskatoon and there’s something for the whole family. Acts around the midway include magician Aaron Matthews, Doo Doo The Clown and the Vibe Motorcycle Thrill Show. The Kickin’ Horse Saloon will feature performances by Bif Naked, Platinum Blonde and Men Without Shame. The grandstand is the hot ticket with performances by Our Lady Peace, Dean Brody and Blue Rodeo. The fireworks will be set off at 11:00p.m. nightly. Admission to the park is $10 – $16 and you can pick up a super pass for the midway for $20.

We could all use a little laugh these days and lucky for us, Dino Archie delivers. Archie has appeared on the Just For Laughs festival, Comedy Central and Jimmy Kimmel Live. You can see Dino Archie live on stage for $30.

Taste of Saskatchewan

Kiwanis Park

Saskatoon’s flavourite event is back and celebrating a quarter century. Get your stretchy pants out and head into the park to try delights from 30 local restaurants. Schnitzel, deep fried bananas and Mars bars, tacos and coconut curry; there’s a dish sure to please. The live entertainment schedule is jam packed with acts like Harreson James, The Chickadees, Massey and the Fergusons and Lisa Moen. This year, the festival is doing away with the token system so you just pay by debit or credit at each booth. Admission is free and the dishes run between $2.50 – $7.50.

Saskatoon Folkfest – Culture Connect

The organizers and pavilion volunteers have switched it up this year for Folkfest because of the pandemic. This year, the committee decided the best way to celebrate the cultural diversity of our city through online workshops, cultural performances and cooking demonstrations. You can also have a taste of Folkfest by ordering mouthwatering meals from the India and Chinese pavilions delivered right  to your door. Access to the online events is free.

Macbeth

Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan Site

If you haven’t checked out Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan yet, this is your chance. The company’s performance of Macbeth has been so popular, the run has been extended to the end of August. this is the Bard’s famous tragedy of a Scottish general and his efforts to overthrow the king. This is a story of civil war, betrayal and a decent into madness. Starring Kristi Friday and Joshua Beaudry, this is a performance you do not want to miss. Tickets are $16 – $39.
