Comedian Danny Knight hosts this show that’s inspired by programs like Chappelle Show and The Daily Show. Get ready to laugh as the team takes on the issues of the day with an Indigenous, comedic spin.

Nail In The Coffin: The Fall And Rise of Vampiro

If you’re a fan of professional wrestling, you’re not going to want to miss this screening. Nail In The Coffin: The Fall and Rise of Vampiro lifts the veil on the world of professional wrestling to tell the story of Canadian Ian Richard Hodgkinson, aka Vampiro. The documentary explores his battles in and out of the ring as he struggles with fame south of the border, retirement and raising his teenaged daughter. This film has plenty of action and emotional struggle to boot. This show is part of the Saskatoon Fantastic Film Festival and there will be a Zoom chat with Hodgkinson after the screening. Tickets are $7 – $10.

Delft Blue – Staged Reading

This year marks the 75th Anniversary of Canadian troops liberating Holland at the end of World War II. In honour of that anniversary and in time for Remembrance Day, Burnt Thicket Theatre is staging an online reading of Andrew Kooman’s Delft Blue.  The story follows Machiel and his wife Sophia who are living in Delft, Holland when it falls to the Nazis in 1940. The couple is faced with a terrible choice of surrendering or defying the occupation as they try to protect their daughter. The playwright says this is a story about impossible decisions that people have to make in impossible times and what it means to live a “good life”. The reading will feature many well-known Saskatoon artists including Tim Bratton and Caitlin Vancoughnett. This performance will be on Burnt Thicket’s Facebook and YouTube channels until the end of the month.

The Fuller Picture – Book Launch

He brought the Saskatoon arts scene to the forefront with his writing, suggested concerts, reviewed shows and simply, made us stand up and take notice of everyday life. Now the work of former Saskatoon Star Phoenix columnist Cam Fuller has been captured in a book called The Fuller Picture. Fuller died in 2018, but silly and passionate observations of life, lives on in the collection of columns that he wrote for the Saskatoon Star Phoenix. From parenting to marriage, this collection of his favourite columns was almost finished and his wife Donella Hoffman made sure the book was completed. A special book launch is being held with McNally Robinson Booksellers over Zoom.
