Burnt Thicket Theatre is hitting the road again with a one man, multi-media, living room show written & performed by artist Tim Bratton. My Little Plastic Jesus is an autobiographical piece where Bratton unpacks his upbringing in an evangelical church and what it means to his life today. It challenges ideas of religion and politics with a lot of humour and original music. These shows are kicking off a tour with stops in Regina, Winnipeg, Bigger, and Prince Albers. It’s staged much like a house concert in homes at each tour stop. Tickets are $30.

You still have this weekend left to see Live Five Independent Theatre’s season opener, a blend of comedic fairy tale and detective caper. Yaga by Kat Sandler follows a private investigator on the case of a missing heir to a yogurt empire. The detective winds through a small town and into the forest they meeting strange characters along the way including Baba Yaga. This is a modern twist on the Slavic legend of a wicked old witch who lives alone in the woods grinding the bones of the wicked. It imagines if the witch was actually a sexy smart modern woman trying to correct a story that has always been told by men. Tickets are $30 – $36.

If you feel like a fright, you should check out the Theatre of Madness’ 2025 edition The Carnival. The Halloween event is back for another year and this time at Crossmount. Wander your way through the grounds at your own risk. This is an event where you book your time to visit ahead when you buy tickets. The later you book, the scarier the experience gets. Tickets are $20 – $30.

Pumpkins After Dark

If you’re looking for a spooktacular way to get into the Halloween spirit, take the family down to the grounds at Prairieland Park for Pumpkins After Dark. This is a festival much like Glow Saskatoon around Christmas time where you can wander through the pathways and enjoy Halloween scenes created from thousands of hand-carved pumpkins. There will be treats from local food trucks, live pumpkin carving demonstrations and roving performers. Tickets are $18 – $24 and you pre-select the time and date of your visit. The celebration runs Thursday to Sunday right up to Halloween.

Now, Canadian singer songwriter Sarah McLachlan is on tour to celebrate the 30th anniversary of her groundbreaking album Fumbling Towards Ecstasy. It’s been a year-long wait for fans as the initial tour plans had to be put on hold while MaLachlan recovered from acute laryngitis. This is sure to be a lovefest for the artist as fans get to hear songs like Adia, I Will Remember You, and Angel… You know, the ones that made her a household name. Tickets are $68 – $146.
