A Saskatoon sampler of music awaits you at the 2025 Saskatoon Musicians’ Association Gala. The organization has been representing artists in the bridge city for 115 years. This show is for everyone as acts like the high energy roots and soul of Munro & Patrick, classical duo Michael Swan and Gillian Lyons, the bagpipe rock of Arcana Kings, and so many more will fill The Bassment with music. This is a celebration of the musicians right here in our community that make our entertainment scene so vibrant. Tickets are $31 – $41.

He shot to fame with his breakout singer Low and followed it up with international hit singles like Right Round, and Club Can’t Handle Me making Flo Rida a bonafide hip-hop hero. The Grammy nominated rapper is back on the road and he’s bringing a Canadian legend with him, Kardinal Offishall will open the show. Tickets are $67 – $84.

Persephone Theatre opens its season with a comedy. Educating Rita tells the story of a brash, straight-talking hairdresser who wants to change her life by going back to school and her disillusioned professor Frank. The pair explore poetry and literature and end up teaching each other a lesson. This is a story about the power of learning. Tickets are $57 – $71.

If you grew up in the 90s and early 2000s like I did… And you like a little campy fun, this show is for you. Middle Aged Boy Band is a hilarious parody show that takes a swipe at the iconic boy bands like New Kids on the Block, NSYNC, and One Direction. These are former heartthrobs who just can’t let go of their previous fame taking suggestions from the audience to create an evening full of fun. I saw the show in Abbotsford earlier this year with my sister and we haven’t stopped laughing about it. Tickets are $47.

It’s one part album release party, one part thank-you to the community. Ross Neilsen won the Saskatoon Blues Society’s Road To Memphis Challenge last year which earned him a spot to compete at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, TN earlier this year. Neilsen got a ton of support from Saskatoon to not only compete but also to take time while he was in Memphis to record at the iconic Sam Phillips Recording Services. The result was Within Tension, his first album in nearly a decade and Neilsen wanted to the first live listen to be here in Saskatoon. Tickets are $30 – $40.

He’s a voice that was part of my childhood and now my own kids have grown up with the music of Raffi. Songs like Down By The Bay and Baby Beluga captures us in that irresistible way where you find yourself singing it out of nowhere and it still brings you joy. This tour, #belugagrads family concert, is a shout out to all his fans regardless of age. All the proceeds from the show will go to the Raffi Foundation for Child Honouring which is dedicated to protecting and honouring children in our society. Tickets are $53 – $125.

Metal meets violin in this two-for-one at SaskTel Centre this weekend. Rockers Halestorm with its album Everest and Violin phenom Lindsey Stirling with her latest work Duality teamed up for the nEVEREST Duality tour. The reviews of this show show have called it a dazzling spectacle of music and theatrics. Cello-metal act Apocalyptica will open the show. Tickets are $42 – $154.

After 15 years of touring across western Canada, the team from the Louisiana Hayride Show are saying goodbye. This performance is a trip down memory lane paying tribute to artists like Patsy Cline, Elvis, Roy Orbison, and Crystal Gayle. If you grew up listening to country music, this show will delight. Vancouver’s alt-rock band Yukon Blonde is out on its Friendship & Rock ‘n’ Roll tour in support of their album of the same name. The band jokes in its release that they are “dragging” the tour across Canada “one motel coffee, one blown tire, on gas station epiphany at a time.” The singles from this album have made a great impression on fans and now you can hear it all live. Juno nominated folk-rock duo Altameda will open the show. Tickets are $24 – $30.

The Refinery
The Live Five Independent Theatre season kicks off with a blend of comedic fairy tale and detective caper. Yaga by Kat Sandler follows a private investigator on the case of a missing heir to a yogurt empire. The detective winds through a small town and into the forest they meeting strange characters along the way including Baba Yaga. This is a modern twist on the Slavic legend of a wicked old witch who lives alone in the woods grinding the bones of the wicked. It imagines if the witch was actually a sexy smart modern woman trying to correct a story that has always been told by men. Tickets are $30 – $36 with a pay-what-you-can preview on Wednesday Oct. 9th.

Jonathan Richman

Roxy Theatre
It’s a quirky mix of poetry, song, and wit that has kept American singer songwriter Jonathan Richman in the game for more than 50 years. Richman founded the Modern Lovers, an influential punk band in the 70s and has continued as both a member of a band and a solo act ever since. Richman’s latest album Only Frozen Sky Anyway was released earlier this summer. Now, alongside longtime drummer Tommy Larkins, Richman is sharing his new tunes and old favourites. Tickets are $40.
