One part sidewalk sale, one part street market and an entire evening of fun on Broadway. The Broadway Block Party is back this weekend. You can see live performances by artists like Ella Jade, Matt Remenda Ensemble, and Sean Bougie. There’s no charge to attend just get ready to wander, shop and enjoy the street performances.

There’s only TWO days left to see this year’s Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan productions and tickets are selling out fast. It’s a big year for the festival as the organization marks its 40th season with Fools & Kings. This year’s offerings include a 1985 spin on A Midsummer Night’s Dream (closing Sunday). The classic tale of lovers caught in a web of jealousy and chaos all set to a soundtrack of 80s hits. For the more classically inclined there’s the Bard’s The Tragedy of Richard II (closing Friday) with a story about the unravelling of a king who struggles to hold his position amid political unrest. This is the first time this play will hit the SOTS stage. Tickets are $33 – $50.

What’s better than an evening of danceable, singable tunes that the whole family will love? When it’s for a good cause. Music for the Gut celebrates its 15th annual fundraising showcase of local talent in support of Crohn’s & Colitis Canada. To date, these shows have raised $217,000 for the charity. This year’s show will feature 108 performers with songs from ABBA, Wicked, Footloose, and more. Tickets are $49.25.

Have you visited Wanuskewin Heritage Park yet? Whether you’re a frequent visitor or want to explore this sacred site for the first time, there’s a couple of reasons you should. There’s a brand new exhibit from Olivia and Greg Yuel Artist-in-Residence Franchesca Raven Bell opening this weekend. siʔiłp/Saskatoon Bush explores the connection between her traditional lands of the Syilx people in the Okanagan and the Northern Plains that Wanuskewin resides on. The acrylic and digital works uses the Saskatoon bush as a metaphor to explain how her time at the heritage park has allowed her to flourish as an artist. The exhibit officially opens Sunday and that’s the perfect time to go because it’s Free Admission Sunday.

Amigos Cantina
There’s new music on the horizon for Regina singer-songwriter Nick Faye. The pop, rock artist is releasing his latest album (Good) Love at Amigos Cantina. Faye is a familiar face in our neck of the woods, recently performing at the SaskTel Saskatchewan Jazz Festival. He’s also opened for artists like Megan Nash and Colter Wall. Tickets are $19 – $24.

Trucktastic Children’s Expo

Prairieland Park
Children’s Expo for kids fascinated by large tractors, vehicles and equipment. Children have a chance to explore the machinery and meet the people who operate them. Make sure you check out the metal giants from BN Steel & Metals as they’ve recreated Transformers to wow the crowd. This event supports the work Family Service Saskatoon does in our community to help children and families. Tickets are $6 – $12 and $36 for a family pass.

Remai Modern
WEGO is back for another year. This is a free festival full of art, music and dance performances. Here tunes from Jay and Danica, Beau Nectar, and Mr. Eric, a children’s performer who many of you might recognize as Eric Paetkau, the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra’s former conductor, now entertaining young and old with his original tunes. Enjoy games in Ludoland, chalk drawing with Nikki Sirett and sit for a new (temporary) tattoo with real tattoo artists. Admission is free.

Murdoch Mysteries: Live in Concert

Take a trip behind the scenes of a beloved Canadian television series with the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra. Murdoch Mysteries: Live in Concert is a masterclass in music made for film and television. The evening will feature Emmy Award-nominated composer Rob Carli, joined by actor and host for the evening Thomas Craig (Detective Blackenreid), and conductor Lucas Waldin as they have a show & tell with the audience about what it takes to make music for Murdoch Mysteries. In the second half of the concert, the SSO will perform the music live to an episode of the show that will be shown on the big screen above the musicians. Tickets are $71 – $94.
