They are shutting down the streets in the heart of the city for a four-day street festival filled with music and fun. Canadian country superstar Brett Kissel will kick off the party (Wednesday), then followed by Shawnee Kish (Thursday) and the party will close out the last two days with DJ dance parties both nights. Tickets are $25 – $65.

Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan

It’s a big year for Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan as the organization marks its 40th season with Fools & Kings. This year’s offerings include a 1985 spin on A Midsummer Night’s Dream (opening night July 19). The classic tale of lovers caught in a web of jealousy and chaos all set to a soundtrack of 80s hits. For the more classically inclined there’s the Bard’s The Tragedy of Richard II (opening July 24) with a story about the unravelling of a king who struggles to hold his position amid political unrest. This is the first time this play will hit the SOTS stage. Tickets are $33 – $50.

It’s a blend of cultural tradition, art and sport all rolled into one big party in the park. Basketball, break dance, cheer, and more; these competitions are for amateurs and professional athletes as they compete in venues in the park and around the city. There will be art battles, a mural competition, and cultural performances. Day passes are $5 – $10 an weekend passes for $10 – $20.

Batoche Heritage Site
It’s time to head Back to Batoche. The annual festival celebrating Métis heritage has been running for more than 50 years and there’s a reason the party is still going strong. Just an hour drive north of Saskatoon, this year’s celebration features performances by Rebecca Strong, Mystic Highway, and Shania Twin. There would be a rodeo with chuckwagon and charity races, the Voyageur Games, activities for the kids and plenty of tasty treats. Celebrate the culture and beauty of the Métis people this weekend at Batoche.

Capitol Music Club
Evan Baxter and Brandon Scott kick off their Travel by Gravel Tour in Saskatoon. The pair call themselves the acoustic assassins and will be bringing vocalists Mercy Glover and Taya Lebel along for the ride. Tickets are $13 and this is a fundraiser for Telemiracle.
