It’s an evening filled with mystery, mayhem, and murder. The Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra and Saskatoon Opera are teaming up to present the haunted tale of Gian Carlo Menotti’s The Medium. This opera, sung in English, will be staged in the round bringing the audience up close to the performers as they weave a tale about Madame Flora, a medium who stages fake seances. This is a dark tale where Madame Flora’s world slowly unravels before you. Tickets are sold out to both performances but a few may still be released last minute for $43 – $50. The concert will also be available via livestream that ticket is $22 – $35.

Tour of the Setting Sum

After nearly 30 years on the road Canadian rockers Sum 41 have decided to hang it up with their last ever headlining world tour. This is a band that has topped the Billboard charts, received Grammy nominations, Juno Awards and will be inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame later this year. If you were a child of the 90s and early 2000s, you won’t want to miss out on the Tour of the Setting Sum. In Too Deep, Fat Lip, Motivation… Hear all your favourite tunes live for $61 – $100.

Yevshan Anniversary Party

This year marks a huge anniversary for Saskatoon’s Yevshan Ukrainian Folk Ballet Ensemble. The company was founded in 1960 and has been performing for 65 years. To celebrate, the group is holding a gala with supper, performances by the ensemble, and a dance with music by progressive Ukrainian folk band Tyt i Tam. Tickets for the entire evening are $55 – $135.

Ghostbusters – Drunken Cinema

When there’s something strange in the neighbourhood, who ya gonna call? Drunken Cinema is calling the Ghostbusters. The classic 1984 film starring Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, Harold Ramis, and Ernie Hudson is the choice for this monthly interactive movie game from the Saskatoon Fantastic Film Festival team. Game cards and props are included in the ticket price of $15. You must be 19+ years of age to attend.

Brighten up the darkest month of the year with a four-day festival filled with comedy, music, theatre and so much more. Winterruption is back filling our city with performances by artists like Nap Eyes, Winona Forever, and Donovan Woods. You won’t want to miss the 25th Anniversary screening of O Brother, Where Art Thou? At the Broadway on Jan. 23. This is not just a movie as the soundtrack will be played live by musicians like Belle Plaine, Blake Berglund, and Sonia Reid. Families, don’t miss the free, outdoor festival in W. E.
