After selling out last year, Juno award winning Canadian jazz singer and pianist Laila Biali is back with her holiday show. This is a performance of music inspired by the coldest time of the year. Biali will perform a mix of holiday favourites and sacred music alongside saxophonist & flautist Jane Bunnett. The pair will also be joined by an accomplished band. Tickets are $42 – $52.

The Broadway Theatre

Gordon Tootoosis Nīkānīwin Theatre is ringing in the season of its 25th anniversary season with an original comedy by local Indigenous comedians Maureen Belanger, Dakota Ray Hebert, Ryan Moccasin, and Daniel Hanover Knight. Leave It To Weavers is takes us to the rez for a holiday homecoming for a set of siblings who have something very important to discuss. All is calm and bright until they hear the sound of hooves on the roof and Anita decides it’s a great chance to fill the freezer. This show is hot off a tour and the cast is excited to perform for you. Tickets are $20 – $25.

Handel’s Messiah & Sing-Along Messiah

It’s a 111 year-old tradition in our city. Orchestra musicians and vocalists gathering to let Handel’s Messiah ring out for all to hear. This performance by the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra happens in two parts. On Friday night SSO musicians will be joined by the SSO Chorus, led by Duff Warkentin, guest soloists Casey Penden, Andrea Ludwig, Spencer McKnight, and Jayden Burrows, all under the direction of conductor Karl Hirzer in a performance of the oratorio. Then, on Saturday afternoon, it’s your turn. Sing-Along Messiah invites you to join all the artists I just mentioned and raise a joyful voice. Tickets for Friday night are $49 – $64 and Saturday afternoon tickets are $25.

Baba & the Gift of the Kohkum Scarf

Dancing Sky Theatre  – Meacham

After a couple performances being delayed by wild weather, the team at Dancing Sky Theatre is back on stage with a new panto full of culture and laughs. Baba & the Gift of the Kohkum Scarf reunites us with Baba as she’s preparing for Christmas with her family and friends when disaster strikes. How can they celebrate the holidays with no presents? This tale about people coming together to share the season with others is one full of original story, puppetry, music and laughs for the whole family. Tickets are $20 – $35 and for $45 you can add on lunch or supper.

Miracle on 34th Street

Persephone Theatre is close to selling out the original run and tickets are going fast for the extension of its holiday production of Miracle on 34th Street. Based on the 1947 film, this story follows Kris Kringle, a man called in to fill in for the intoxicated Santa in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade. When Mr. Kringle makes claims to be the real Santa Claus, his sanity is called into question. This is a heartwarming classic for the whole family and stars many local actors including several children from right here in Saskatoon. Tickets are $30 – $47 and note, they’ll be no performances Dec. 23rd – 25th.

They’ve been blending beautiful vocal harmonies for more than 40 years and this weekend Solstice hits the stage for its annual Christmas performance. This concert will be full of your holiday favourites from the vocal jazz ensemble backed by a full band. Tickets are $33 – $43.

Warm up your holidays with a little Latin dance. Saskatoon Salsa Dance Co. is hosting its Boogaloo Holiday Fiesta 2024 Saturday night. This is a chance for you to dance the night away with group members and toast the Christmas season. Tickets are $15 – $20.

She has a star on the Canadian Walk of Fame and a place forever in our hearts. Jann Arden is out on the road delighting audiences with her Christmas tour. Anyone who’s seen Arden in concert before knows that the music is beautiful and the chit chat between the songs is just as delightful. Tickets are going fast for this show and they are $80 – $130.

Saskatchewan troubadour Jeffery Straker is on the road with his full band for two performances of A Very Prairie Christmas. Staker’s inviting the audience to bring a friend, wear your favourite Christmas sweater, and be prepared to sing along with him to some of his favourite holiday tunes. Tickets are $33 – $43.

They’ve been lighting up the Forestry Farm Park for 26 years this year and the BHP Enchanted Forest is tradition for my family. Make sure you check out all the forest additions, my 10 year-old knows them by heart and is always excited to see the new lights. Tickets are $10 per person or $35 per car.

Prairieland Park         

Light up your Christmas with Glow Saskatoon. Make sure you bring your camera and the whole family to the indoor holiday light festival. As you wander through the light display, the kids can take part in a scavenger hunt following hidden clues to help Santa find his missing presents. If you find them all, you get a prize. There will be visits with Santa, appearances by the Disney princesses and plenty of local music featured on the entertainment stage. Tickets are $16 – $22 with group rates available.
