It’s a show that many in our theatre community have been dying to see. The Invisible: Agents of Ungentlemanly Warfare by Edmonton’s Catalyst Theatre is on tour and making a stop here in Saskatoon. Our own Amanda Trapp has been with the production since its very beginning in 2019. The musical tells the story of seven highly trained female operatives in Churchill’s Special Operations Executive as they risk their lives in Nazi-occupied France during World War II. It’s a tale based on history full of danger, sabotage, propaganda and espionage. Tickets are $54 – $69.

Somewhere Else Pub & Grill

The folks behind the Comedy Pit have put together a fun night that’s one part human tricks, one part stand-up comedy. Comedy-oke is an evening where everyone is welcome to show off their special talent on stage. Can you play the armpit, wiggle your ears, or do imitations? Bring it! This could be your big break or at the very least a lot of fun. The second half of the evening sit back and laugh with the pros. Featured comics will be Ryan Moccasin, Mitchell Doran, Anna Linassi, and Ari Avivi. Tickets are $10.

Get ready to scream with Vancouver’s Five Alarm Funk. The band is loved in this city with it’s heavy duty, dancing wild time. This band is a regular on the lineup for the Saskatchewan Jazz Festival and with it’s party hard attitude, it’s easy to see why. Tickets for this show are $28.

Special Delivery Too: The Tippy Table

Wide Open Children’s Theatre is back with a sequel to its smash hit Special Delivery. Tic and Tok return in this story about two clowns that just can’t get along so they decide to do their research. The pair study a book about being a good person but their interpretations of what it all means are very different. Will they learn anything or just clown around. This show is a ton of fun for the little ones and their families. Tickets are $12 – $17.

Doll of the Dead: She’s Got Strings Attached

Look out for that creepy doll in the corner! Saskatoon Soaps Improv Comedy is back on stage this weekend with its Halloween show. Join in on the fun as these comedians, with your help, tell the tale of a doll so devious it’s been banned by every store in North America. Horror meets hilarity so get in on the action. Tickets are $16.

If you’re looking for a little pop music, Vikki Minor’s got ya covered. You may recognize her as Velours but after a quick name change and showcasing at Breakout West this Saskatoon-born alt-pop artist is making waves. Minor is now based in Toronto but she hasn’t forgotten about home, you may even catch recognizable YXE landmarks in her music videos. The show will also feature Blind Commentary and Landfall. Tickets for this all ages show are $19.

Controlled Burn

It’s a celebration of poetry, hip hop, sounds of the street, and looping pedals and it’s the sound of ground-breaking Canadian music through the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra. Controlled Burn is what the SSO’s CEO Mark Turner calls “The sleeper concert of the season”, the one you’ll hear people rave about long after. The program features the world premiere of Saskatoon-born poet Zoey Roy’s Ever, Beautiful. It’s a collection of her poetry set to music that reflects the human experience and definitely has urban vibes. Also on the program celebrated cellist Cris Derksen will perform her latest piece Controlled Burn. Through electrified cello and looping pedals and backed by the symphony Derksen will perform a piece that’s a musical reflection of the traditional Indigenous ways of managing the forest. The piece premiered at Carnegie Hall just this spring. Conductor Janna Sailor also lead the orchestra in a performance of Saskatoon composer Wayne Toews’ Contemplating Clouds on a Prairie Sky. Tickets for this all Canadian showcase are $32 – $100.

They’ve been on Canada’s music scene for 40 years and to celebrate the milestone, Saskatoon’s own The Northern Pikes are out on the road celebrating their hits. She Ain’t Pretty, Girl With A Problem, and Kiss Me You Fool, this concert will be one to bring back memories and celebrate the talent of four guys that followed their dream and succeeded. Tickets are $45.

Pumpkins After Dark

If you’re looking for a spooktacular way to get into the Halloween spirit, take the family down to the grounds at Prairieland Park for Pumpkins After Dark. This is a festival much like Glow Saskatoon around Christmas time where you can wander through the pathways and enjoy Halloween scenes created from thousands of hand-carved pumpkins. There will be treats from local food trucks, live pumpkin carving demonstrations and roving performers. Tickets are $22 – $45 and you pre-select the time and date of your visit. The celebration runs Thursday to Sunday right up to Halloween.

Theatre of Madness Haunted House

If you’re looking for a good scare ahead of Halloween, check out the Theatre of Madness Haunted House. Take a walk through the old theatres at the mall for a spine-tingling experience behind the velvet ropes. There’s different scare levels to choose from so everyone can get in on the fun. Basically, the later it gets, the spookier it gets. Tickets are $15 – $20.
