Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley
Now – Dec. 21
Remai Arts Centre
Who doesn’t like a good sequel? If you’re a fan of Jane Austen’s classic Pride and Prejudice, you’re going to want to see Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley. The story picks up two years after the original novel ends and focuses on Mary Bennet, the bookish middle sister, who is still at home after her sisters are all married. Mary begins to wonder, “Is there life beyond what she already knows?”. Tickets are $47 – $60.

Baba’s Magic Mitten
Dec. 1 – 17
Dancing Sky Theatre
It’s a love letter to Ukrainian people from the entire creative team at Dancing Sky Theatre. Baba’s Magic Mitten is a holiday panto that delivers a healthy dose of laughter along with original music and puppetry in a show for the whole family. The performances are in Meacham, just a short drive outside Saskatoon. You can go for just the play or come early to enjoy the Ukrainian themed brunch or dinner. Tickets are $20 – $35 and you can add on the meal to select shows for $40.

Mary of Patuanak
Dec. 7 – 15
Broadway Theatre
It’s an original twist on the classic Christmas tale of the birth of the sacred child. Gordon Tootoosis Nīkānīwin Theatre’s production of Bruce Sinclair’s Mary of Patuanak is set in 1985 and follows a Dene woman caught in a dream world. As she travels she meets an elder Maggie and Joe a carpenter who falls in love with her. When Mary discovers she’s pregnant, she decides to travel back to her home community of Patuanak for the birth. Tickets are $18 – $21 and there are also school matinees.

Enchanted Forest Saskatoon

Forestry Farm Park
They’ve been lighting up the Forestry Farm Park for 25 years this year and the BHP Enchanted Forest is tradition for my family. This year there are three new light displays added to the annual favourites. Santa visits Dec. 16th. Tickets are $10 per person or $35 per car.

Festival of Trees
Now – Dec. 9
Western Development Museum
Get your decorating inspiration from people who think about the holidays year-round. You might even want to forget about decorating your own tree and buy one with all the proceeds going to charity. The annual Festival of Trees is on right now. Stroll the streets of Boomtown admiring the trees, wreaths and gingerbread houses done up to the nines. The kids can grab a picture with Santa or their favourite princess and you can snack on those tasty gingerbread cookies. Tickets are $5 – $12.

Glow Saskatoon
Now – Dec. 30
Prairieland Park
Light up your Christmas with Glow Saskatoon. Make sure you bring your camera and the whole family to the indoor holiday light festival. As you wander through the light display, the kids can take part in a scavenger hunt following hidden clues to help Santa find his missing presents. If you find them all, you get a prize. There will be visits with Santa, appearances by the Disney princesses and plenty of local music featured on the entertainment stage. Passes are $34.

Noon Festival of Carols
Dec. 4 – 8
TCU Place
Do you love holiday tunes? Miss having the school concerts to kick off your season? Take a break and enjoy school choirs from all over our city perform for you. The concerts are over the lunch hour and it’s a tradition that’s been going strong for more than 50 years. This event is free to attend.

Favourite Time of the Year

Lakeview Church
There’s nothing like a the sound of a choir at Christmastime. Joy of Vox is a pop vocal ensemble 200 members strong that simply love to sing. Under the direction of BJ Harris, the group will bring you plenty of seasonal favourites by The Irish Rovers, Boney M. and Dr. Seuss. Tickets are $28.

Christmas with the SSO

Knox United Church
Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra has a string of performances to get you in the festive spirit. Holiday Pops (Dec. 9 – TCU Place) is a concert filled with all your favourites and featuring Saskatchewan’s own Donny Parenteau in his SSO debut. Parenteau’s original I Love Christmas has been arranged for orchestra and he can’t wait for you to hear it. The performance will also see the return of The Grinch as Garry Gable reprises the role reading from the classic tale and singing its most famous tune. The celebration of the holidays continues with the return of Handel’s Messiah (Dec. 16 – Knox United Church) and the Sing-Along Messiah (Dec. 17 – Knox United Church). Guest vocalists include Casey Penden, Oli Gusselle, Spencer McKnight and Brenden Friesen as well as the SSO Chorus led by Duff Warkentin. Don’t miss this tradition that has continued for 110 years in our city.

Christmas Memories
Dec. 20 & 21
TCU Place
It’s a heartwarming musical celebration from Saskatoon’s Fireside Singers. The annual holiday show has been around for more than 50 years and will include seasonal classics as well as more modern tunes. This year’s guest artists include Danika Lorén. Tickets are $53.
