Music, storytelling, circus acts and plenty of interactive activities, the Nutrien Children’s Festival is the place to be for families with little ones. Take your kids to sing along with Splash‘N Boots, be wowed by Gustavo the Impossibilist, take in a play by Dufflebag Theatre and groove to the reggae rhythms of Aaron Nigel Smith. There’s so much to see and do, you really have to check out the full schedule. Day passes are $10 and are good for the day of your choice.

Contemplative Arts Festival

Grosvenor Park United Church  

It’s a festival all about finding connection through art with ourselves and others. This is the second year for this festival and it focuses on more spiritual connection through art. There will be crafting workshops and panel discussions, vocal workshops and artistic performances. Take a break from the hustle and bustle and walk the labyrinth. This is your chance to unplug and connect.

Most of the events are free of charge, donations are welcome. The workshops are $10 and you have to register here.

 

Queen: It’s a Kinda Magic

Back by popular demand  from Australia, this tribute show celebrates the music of Queen with all the hits. We Will Rock You, Another One Bites The Dust, Bohemian Rhapsody, all from arguably one of the greatest rock acts of all time. If you like tribute artists and high quality performances, this show is for you. Tickets are $38 – $67.

Wilma Groenen & The Fine Young Fossils

One of Saskatoon’s Divas is set to take the stage with an all-star band that is the backbone of our music scene. Wilma Groenen & The Fine Young Fossils will take you on voyage through covers of five decades of rock, pop and blues. This is the kind of show that will have you singing along. Dark Bridges Film Festival

Broadway Theatre  

Saskatoon’s horror fest is back with 13 films to thrill you. Offerings include old favourites like Friday’s Killer Klowns from Outer Space, the drunken cinema feature and new films including Killer Balloon, shot in Swift Current. It’s a story of three friends on New Year’s Eve trying to escape, what else, a killer balloon. That’s screening on Saturday night. Sunday offerings include a 3D presentation of Flesh for Frankenstein. Give yourself a good scare. Single tickets will run you $8 – $12 or you can grab an all access pass for $145.

Saskatoon Pride        

Now – June 18

From Pride Week to now a month full of celebration, Saskatoon Pride is back for 2023. This year’s party includes the Rainbow Tent at the Nutrien Children’s Festival, a golf tournament and drag bingo all happening this week. June 11 – 18, activities include a movie night, the annual Wes Funk Memorial Latté, a concert by the Bridge City Chorus and a fashion show. The celebrations end with a bang on the weekend of June 17th with the Pride Parade, Pride in the Park and the Pride Week Block Party. There are so many events, you have to check out the schedule. Admission to the events vary.

Zero Gravity

Blast off with Sum Theatre and its annual Theatre in the Park. This year’s tale Zero Gravity follows Dr. Einstein Reez as he tries to save his family and civilization by building a spaceship in his garage. The plan to send three young explorers into the galaxy beyond our failing earth to find a new place to live. This is a show for all ages and includes original story, music, giant puppets and plenty of audience participation. Bring a lawn chair to a performance in a neighbourhood park near you. The show is in Saskatoon now until June 25th, in between the cast will perform in Regina and area June 4th – 10th and then head to select northern communities.
