Johnny Reid

Sat. & Fri.

Broadway Theatre

There’s no denying that Saskatoon loves Johnny Reid. Every time the country superstar comes to the bridge city, his shows sell out and tonight and Friday night are no different. Reid is out on the road for more than 100 Canadian dates. I was on the site last night and there are still a few single seats left. Reid released his latest album Love Somebody in October and the Broadway Theatre is going to be packed with his Tartan Army. If you’re looking for seats together, check the website and Facebook event page, you could get lucky. Tickets are $90.

The performance, directed by Dwayne Brenna shows each character with their own disappointments in life, with love, success, and artistic genius. It’s an examination of how people are never really satisfied. Tickets for the live show run $19 – $22.

Typecastress

April 5 – 9

BackStage Stage

Saskatoon has a long, storied history of talented people and now it’s time to add Bobbi-Lee Jones to that list. She’s created a brand new piece of musical theatre that examines the joy, excitement and challenges of aspiring women breaking into the world of theatre. Typecastress is a performance that examines the gender imbalance and inequities in the theatre world. We join Nora as she is called in for her big audition and she remembers all it took to get her there. This is a story of feminism, empowerment and following your dreams. Tickets to the show are $18 – $28 and opening night has already sold out.

Mini Pops Kids – Live

Apr. 9

Broadway Theatre

They take songs that have hit the pop charts and turn them into bangers that your kids can sing along to. Full disclosure: when I was a kid, I would’ve done anything to be a Mini Pop. The performance group is in Saskatoon for a show that you and your kids can enjoy together. Pop hits from artists like BTS, Dua Lipa and Olivia Rodrigo will be on the program so there will be plenty of chances to singalong. $35 will get you in to the show.
