Get Stoked for a new family destination
It’s a place that was built by family, for family. The Wilson’s Lifestyle Centre team is building on that tradition with a brand-new addition and amenities to the Stoked Centre, Stoked Kitchen & Bar that’s just opened in Brighton.
“We were inspired by places in the United States that combine fine dining and family entertainment. I want people to leave amazed!”
“We love to play, and we also know how wonderful it is to savour a high-end meal,” says co-owner Steve Wilson. “This has been in the works for more than 10 years. We were inspired by places in the United States that combine fine dining and family entertainment. I want people to leave amazed!”
The Las Vegas-style entertainment area features the Spark® bowling alley. This is an interactive and immersive experience with more than 15 games to choose from projected on each lane. A state-of-the-art arcade complete with the latest VR games compliment the SkyRail and Velocity Raceway that are already Stoked Centre family favourites. Sports fans will delight in the lounge featuring the biggest 4K television in Canada surrounded by individual flatscreens to keep you up on the latest scores. For those premium pay-per-view events, there’s a skybox private viewing area complete with bar service and theatre-style recliners.
This experience would be nothing without the food. Forget about cardboard pizza and the hot dog rotisserie, the Stoked Kitchen & Bar is going to be one of the most talked about restaurants around and key to that, was finding the right man for the job.
“We wanted the best and with chef Anthony McCarthy, and we got it,” says Wilson.
“We wanted the best and with chef Anthony McCarthy, and we got it”
McCarthy has been an integral part of the Saskatchewan culinary scene for the past 14 years. He helped revive the Culinary Federation of Saskatoon, brought the Gold Medal Plates competition to the city, and continues to mentor the next generation of chefs here in Saskatchewan. It was the chance to build something completely new that lured McCarthy away from his post as Executive Chef of the Saskatoon Club.
“The freedom and chance to get in on the ground floor was so exciting,” says McCarthy. “To put years of experience into designing a kitchen, team and menu all from a vision on a piece of paper has been inspiring.”
Along with several kid-friendly options on the menu, McCarthy has designed dishes that blend local ingredients into bright and approachable dishes. Local “foodies” can have their tastebuds tantalized by opting for McCarthy’s custom Chef’s Table experience.
“It’s for people who want to go on a culinary adventure. Left in my hands, I will tailor a coursed meal complete with wine pairings,” says McCarthy “There was nothing like this when our kids were younger, a place where we could enjoy a fine meal and take our time. When the kids are done eating, they can go and play.”
