The Singing Spirit
Thursday
Glass & Lumber & Online
It’s a musical celebration of love and friendship. After all, it’s our friends that have gotten us through the last couple of years. The Ritornello Chamber Music Festival and Prairie Debut present The Singing Spirit with Katherine Dowling and Kerry DuWors. The two musicians consider each other “musical soulmates” and their friendship began 10 years ago at Ritornello. The festival is presenting this as primarily an online streaming experience and the performance will feature works by Robert and Clara Schumann as well as Johannes Brahms. It’s fitting because the Schumanns and Brahms were life-long friends and confidantes. A digital ticket is $20 but there are a limited number of in-person tickets available.

TCU Place & ConcertStream.tv
The classic Tchaikovsky work Swan Lake is being reimagined by guest conductor Judith Yan and the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra. The musicians are in good hands as Yan has conducted Swan Lake for ballet and orchestra all over the world. Turns out the orchestra-only performance is different from the ballet score and Yan has created a new suite of the more than 200 musical moments to tell more of the story we know so well from the ballet. This performance will also feature Regina-born cellist Jonathan Craig Penner performing Tchaikovsky’s Rococo Variations for his debut with the SSO. Also on the program, the Canadian premiere of composer and former Miss America (2019) Nia Imani Franklin’s Chrysalis Extended. You can grab in-person tickets for $36 – $80. Paradise Park
Mar. 1 – 5
Online
Greystone Theatre is bringing it’s latest production online with Charles Mee’s Paradise Park. The performance, directed by Deneh’Cho Thompson takes a look at the promise, attraction and often disappointment of Amusement Parks. Is this a metaphor for life? You decide. The story follows a group of people as they wander through an amusement park singing and dancing while they reflect on life, love and regret. The catch is, you don’t know if they have been there all together or separately, have they been stuck for 10 years or only visiting for one day. Tickets for the stream are $20 – $30.
