If you revel in the beauty of the spoken word then you’re not going to want to miss this performance. The Saskatoon Poetic Arts Festival has rescheduled the four-day event it had planned until next year. To make do until it’s safe to gather again, 10 spoken word artists including loudvoice, Dana De Samedi and Franz (the poet) will perform live Friday night on Zoom. The link will be provided on the SPAF website. Admission is by donation.

If you’re looking for something to do to celebrate Mother’s Day but can’t get together, why not check out an event designed to get you all together. We all remember the smash hit remake of A Star Is Born with Gaga and Bradley Cooper. I mean who didn’t sing Shallow in the shower… really? Local duo Heidi Munro and Scott Patrick will be singing songs from both the original 1976 classic with Barbara Streisand and the Kris Kristofferson and the 2018 remake. This show wil happen on Zoom so you’ll need the app. Send an e-transfer of $8 to munropatrickmusic@gmail.com and they’ll send you the link. It’s a way you’ll be able to see mom and enjoy some great music.

It’s a battle royal between conductors as they duke it out to decide who’s chosen Beethoven recording will reign supreme. Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra music director Eric Paetkau will take on guest conductors in this musical debate each week. This Tuesday conductor Janna Sailor will battle over Symphony No. 7. This is all part of the SSO’s Beethoven at Home festival.
