On The Fringe       Thurs. – Aug. 12

Broadway District

It’s more than 30 theatre productions from right here at home and around the world. The PotashCorp Fringe Theatre and Street Festival is back for another year of high flying fun. From racy plays about sex and relationships to shadow puppetry for kids there’s something for everyone at this party. Plan to spend the day at this festival as you can see a show and then wander the streets around Broadway Avenue to enjoy the many street performers and buskers. There are plenty of tasty treats from local food vendors and you can shop for locally made crafts, jewelry and clothing. It’s a ton of fun and a great way to introduce the kids to theatre. Tickets to the shows are $15 and multiple show packages are available.

Midway Magic         Aug. 8 – 13

Prairieland Park

In the dog days of summer, isn’t it nice to throw caution to the wind and enjoy a spudnut or two? The Saskatoon Exhibition is back for another year of sinfully good food, music and of course midway rides. The lineup on the grandstand this year is a big one kicking off with Johnny Reid, then Alessia Cara, The Strumbellas, Blue Rodeo and Big Sugar keep the tunes going through the 6 days. Hold onto your cookies as you ride fan favourites the Zipper and the Orbitor. There’s also a midway for the little guys, a giant slide and several street performers that have hourly shows. Admission into the grounds is $16 and that will get you into the grandstand shows as well. If you’re looking to ride all night, $49 will get you a wristband and there are other deals available to.
