Backstage Stage

It’s a story for young people, by young people. Here is a new musical created by the Persephone Young Company, a theatre school for teens age 14-19. The story follows the stories of four teens as they recount stories of violence, war and immigration in the face of insurmountable odds. This is a show filled with drama and includes 8 original songs composed and performed by the company. This is a great chance to see Saskatoon’s young up and coming talent on one stage. Tickets are $20.

Hullabaloo Heaven          Friday

Saskatoon Farmers’ Market

Musicians are about to blow the roof off of the Saskatoon Farmers’ Market. Hullabaloo 2017 is a celebration of local and touring rock bands from the prairies. It’s a chance to get up and dance to the klezmer country rock of Saskatoon’s Whiskey Jerks and enjoy the Raunch ‘n’ Roll fun of Ontario’s Voltang. In all, eight acts will take the stage. It’s going to be a wonderful chance to experience your favourite bands live and get hooked on some new ones. Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door.

Multi-Juno award winner and Canadian country music legend, George Canyon is a true star on our music scene. Canyon is heading our way for a show this May long weekend. He’s currently working on a new album set to be released later this year and this show is sure to be filled with his biggest hits. This will be a high energy and intimate show at the casino. Her songs are poignant, haunting and beautifully musical. Amelia Curran says her music is all about what it’s like to be human and her eighth album, Watershed is a reflection of her work as a mental health advocate. This will be an intimate show for the Juno-award winning artist and it’s a great chance to see her live. Tickets are $27 – $37.
