Inspiration For Youth Now – Sat.
Persephone Theatre Backstage Stage
It’s something I tell my kids all the time to “Slow down!” or to “Pay attention!” but what if you can’t? That’s the struggle facing Jamie Cavanaugh in Persephone Theatre’s newest show for young people The Incredible Speediness of Jamie Cavanaugh. The story follows Jamie as her and her best friend Max battle school yard bullies and try to harness all her energy. This show is ideal for kids in Grade 2 – Grade 6 and right after its Saskatoon run, the show will then embark on a school tour. Tickets are $20.

When it comes to the middle of winter, we all need a little pick me up. The Saskatoon Blues Society has just the thing. The Saskatoon Blues Festival is on right now in our city. Clubs and theatres are alive with the many different facets of this music. There are so many performers on this lineup you really should check out the full lineup. Friday check out a true blues legend Big Dave McLean who will share the stage at TCU Place with Jack de Keyzer and the 24th Street Wailers. On Saturday the ladies take over as hometown favourite Suzie Vinnick, blues and roots master Sue Foley and singer songwriter Cécile Doo-Kingué share the bill, that show is also at TCU Place. Local Country Friday
Longbranch Country Bar
He’s being touted as the next big thing to come out of the Saskatchewan country music scene but Kipling’s Alex Runions has been at it for a long time. Runions is the headlining performer this weekend at the RBC Insurance Taste of the SCMA Cabaret. The event will be highlighting performers up for Saskatchewan Country Music Awards this year. Samara Yung and Erin Hill will also share the stage. It’s a chance to see the best our country music scene has to offer before the big awards weekend in Saskatoon (Mar. 31 – Apr. 2, 2017). This is a fundraiser and tickets are $20 at the door.

P.J. Party Time Friday
City Park School
It’s the time of year when many of us look for ways to donate to Telemiracle (live show in Saskatoon this weekend Mar. 4 & 5). Children’s performer Sylvia Chave has a celebration planned to help you do just that and have a blast with your kids. She’s getting on her coziest pyjamas for a Pyjama Party. There will be crafts, a photo booth and prizes for the kids. It’s at 6:30p.m. so that’s nice and early for the little ones to all attend. Admission is a donation to Telemiracle and everyone’s invited to wear their p.j.’s. If you’d like more from Sylvia, don’t forget about her Marchmallow Treat concerts March 16th & 17th at the Refinery.
