SCMA Awards Weekend April 22-24 TCU Place & Ramada Hotel
This is the biggest weekend in Saskatchewan Country Music. Artists from all over the province will be here to show off their chops and celebrate with each other and the public. Top nominees include Jess Moskaluke (6) and Codie Prevost (4). The best part about this event is although it’s an industry party; the public is invited to all of it. Kick off party and Songwriter’s Circle Friday night right through to the Gospel Showcase Sunday afternoon you can get tickets to it all. The Awards are Saturday night at TCU Place. Tickets are event dependant but run around $33.
Family Film Sunday Apr.24 Rainbow Cinemas
Have you been avoiding the movie theatre because you have a toddler or baby? Well wait no more. This weekend there’s a chance for the whole family to head to the movies for a screening of Kung Fu Panda 3. And there’s a chance for a little inspiration as well because there will be a pre-show demo of Karate by the Okami Martial Arts Centre Group. The whole event is being put on by the Movies for Mommies group… they do good work. Tickets are $7, Babies are free.
Giddy Up! April 22 & 23 SaskTel Centre
Spring is here and it’s time to dig out those well-worn Levis and shine up your boots. Plenty of Rodeo action is kicking into high gear at the Saskatoon Spring Rodeo. This is a full-scale rodeo event with barrel racing, steer wrestling and, yes of course, bull riding. This is a sanctioned event by the Canadian Cowboy’s Association. It’s two days of highflying fun and it all winds up with a country cabaret on Saturday night. Tickets are $10-$20
Spoonful of Fun April 20 – May 15 Persephone Theatre
She’s practically perfect in every way and now Mary Poppins is in Saskatoon to enchant a new generation. The beloved nanny is floating down to the stage at Persephone Theatre for a full-scale live production. This is a show that has all the music you’d expect and a few new ones thrown in for good measure. Perfect for the whole family; Mary Poppins runs until May 22. Tickets are $32 – $38
