His comedy centres around everyday topics like his years as a teacher. His cross-Canada tour stops in our city this weekend. Tickets are $40 – $90.

Family dynamics can be complicated, especially when a son follows in his father’s footsteps. Empire of the Son is a look at the intertwining lives of Akira and Tetsuro Sigematsu. This is a story based in real life. As his father’s health starts to decline, Tetsuro tries to understand his distant father through a series of interviews with him. This is a show that combines actual clips of those interviews with video and puppetry for a dramatic retelling of Akira’s life. Tickets are $16 – $30.

They’ve been turning out hits for 50 years and now Canadian classic rockers Lighthouse is out on the road to celebrate. The band made a name for itself with hits like Pretty Lady, Sunny Days and Hats off to the Stranger. Party with the band Friday night. Tickets are $48.

Emrys Jones Theatre – UofS

Greystone Theatre is wrapping its season with a drama. Sophie Treadwell’s Machinal is a play inspired by the infamous 1927 murder trial of Ruth Snyder. Snyder who murdered her husband was the first woman to be executed by electric chair in New York. The play looks at what could cause an ordinary woman to be pushed to commit such a terrible crime. Tickets are $17 – $22.
