Saskatoon Summer Players is taking a new spin on its winter cabaret with Broadway B-Sides: The songs you forgot you loved. This is an evening that celebrates the tunes you don’t immediately identify with today’s most popular musicals. For example, in Chicago, you automatically thing of All That Jazz but in this performance the cast will do They Both Reached For The Gun. You know, songs that move the storyline but maybe don’t get all the glory. Tickets are $20 – $25.

The weather is looking up for this weekend so why not get out and beat the cabin fever with activities at Nutrien Wintershines. Activities are happening at Market Square and the Gather Local building. There will be face painting and scavenger hunts for the kids. A super cool ice slide, ics schlockey, kick sledding, and inukshuk art displays. The best part, the activities are free to the public.

Folk and country music collide under the careful watch of Del Barber. For nearly two decades the Manitoba musician has crisscrossed the country sharing his talent. When Barber isn’t entertaining music fans, he’s working on his mixed grain, flower and animal farm just outside of Winnipeg. Now, the award-winning musician is taking one last swing for the Last Kick at the Cat tour. Tickets are $31 – $41.

The team from Never Never Shakespeare has a new, intimate theatre experience exploring the bard’s work. Twelfth Night is an irreverent take on Shakespeare’s most beloved comedies. There’s misunderstandings, devious schemes, and gender-related confusion as the cast tells the story of twins Viola and Sebastian who are separated in a shipwreck. Love and laughs await you at this show. Tickets are about $37.

Burnt Thicket Theatre has a new play by Yvette Nolan waiting for you at The Refinery. The Unplugging is a post-apocalyptic tale set in what used to be Saskatchewan. When all modern technology has failed, two women are forced to make their way across the prairie with only traditional wisdom to help them survive. Then a charismatic stranger appears and they have to decide whether or not to share what they know. Tickets are $27 – $32.

It’s a big year for Canadian rockers Our Lady Peace as they mark 30 years of performing together.
