It’s a homecoming for Saskatoon’s Candace Lacina and she’s bringing her friends along for the ride for a performance of The Hello Darlins. This band is made up of Canadian session musicians who’ve worked with artists like Shania Twain and The Crash Test Dummies but they’re not staying in the background for this show. Their debut album “Go By Feel”, released last year, was nominated for three Canadian Folk Music. Check them out at The Capitol for $30 – $60.

Quest for the Rotary Reptilian

It’s a quest to find the Rotary Reptilian this weekend in Saskatoon. This is unlike any stroll you’ve taken through our beautiful parks. Free Flow Dance Theatre Company has created an interactive performance for the whole family. You will meet underneath the Victoria bridge and follow The Explorer along the pathway searching for the elusive reptilian. Along the way, you’ll meet members of the dance company as they present site-specific choreography right in front of you. Tickets for this performance are your choice starting at $10.

You just can’t keep Heidi Munro and Scott Patrick away from the stage. They perform as the duo Munro & Patrick, with the Real Groovy Band, teach aspiring musicians and this weekend they’ll be joined by a band full of Saskatoon notables and get the party started as Soul Sensation. The Bassment will be rocking with sounds of Motown, disco, soul and R’n’B. If you like singing along to hits, this show is for you. Tickets are $27 – $37.

The Broadway Improvement District has just the thing for a little family fun. The Broadway Spring Fling is a street fair happening this weekend. There will be live music on the little stone stage, a giant inflatable obstacle course and visits by Rapunzel and Flynn Rider for the kids and a free yoga session from Ground Yoga. This is a great chance to support local businesses and take a stroll through one of Saskatoon’s favourite neighbourhoods.

The streets of Saskatoon will be filled with music once again. The Jazz Festival is back for its 35th year and the lineup is huge. Main stage acts like Lucinda Williams, Arkells, Pattie LaBelle and Bahamas will delight. A special show Prairie Rhythms is celebrating the festivals anniversary with 35 years of Jazz Community and Fun with the Saskatoon Jazz Orchestra. More intimate shows at the Broadway will include Too Many Zooz, The Strumbellas and Mo Hart with Tanika Charles. Amigos has acts like Shred Kelly and Shawnee Kish. Ernesto Cervini, Amanda Tosoff and Laila Biali will hit up the Bassment and the Free Stage is back featuring acts like Tenille Arts, Farideh and FunkJoint. There’s too many to list here so you’re going to want to check out the full schedule. There’s something for everyone and tickets are Free – $110.
