The Saskatoon Soaps are back on stage with an evening of fly by the seat of your pants theatre. This month the improv comedy troupe is taking on the legalization of marijuana the same day as they launch a new space program. The show’s called How High the Moon and tickets are $12.

Saskatchewan’s film industry has taken a huge hit over the last decade but despite those troubles, there are still people here pushing through to create locally made movies. The Big Gust! Is a brand new feature length film from the Dynamic Video Imaging Corporation. It’s the story of a grief stricken young woman show’s haunted by a mysterious presence. She’s hurtled into a world of anxiety and paranoia as she struggles to deal with her friend’s death. The screening is a one-night-only event and tickets are $12.

He’s taken a page from some of the greats in country music and made his sound, his own. Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson and Hank Williams have all helped form the kind of artist Swift Current’s own Colter Wall has become. Songs of the Plains is his latest album and it’s just been released to rave reviews. Steve Earle called Wall the best singer/songwriter he’s seen in 20 years. Wall is out on the road promoting his new work and he’s got a pair of stops in Saskatoon this weekend. Tickets are $29.50.

This is the first show of the Live Five Independent Theatre Season and it’s starring Saskatoon’s own Jenna-Lee Hyde.
