It’s your chance to check out a brand new music venue and be soothed by the sounds of one of Saskatchewan’s biggest singer songwriters all in one. Andy Shauf is helping open Saskatoon’s Roxy Theatre as a music venue this weekend. Shauf has been making waves right across the country with his latest album The Party. Shauf was a shortlisted finalist for the 2016 Polaris Music Prize and his star just keeps on rising. This show is already a sell out but make sure to check social media and secondary sellers for tickets to what’s sure to be a remarkable show. Tickets are $20 originally.

Light Up The Night       Friday – Jan. 6

Forestry Farm Park

It’s a chance for the whole family to get in on the holiday fun. The Enchanted Forest is opening this Friday with a Light Walk. You and the family can bundle up and explore the holiday light display on foot before it opens to vehicle traffic. This year features a new Grinch display and there will be hot chocolate and a bonfire to keep you toasty. Saturday night, the regular vehicle tours commence. Admission is $5 per person or $20 per family.

Masterful Music          Saturday

It’s a showcase of talented musicians  this weekend as Polaris prize winning Inuit throat singer Tanya Tagaq and Saskatoon’s own award winning violinist William Boan take the stage with the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra this weekend. Tagaq will be showcasing her new work Qiksaaktuq, a lament for murdered and missing indigenous women. It’s a show the SSO says will address Truth and Reconciliation. Boan will be making his solo orchestral debut with Samuel Barber’s Violin Concerto Op. 14. Tickets are $15 – $80.

Christmas Tradition       Sunday

For many, this performance is the kick off to the holiday season. The Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker is coming to Saskatoon for one performance only. This is the 25th anniversary for the tour and along with the amazing skills of the dancers, this performance features giant puppets and beautiful costumes. Tickets are $40 – $175 and they are going fast.
