It’s fast pickin’, high flyin’ fun. The Dead South is bringing their blend of bluegrass and folk music to Saskatoon this weekend. The band is hot off a gig at the Big Valley Jamboree. The four piece acoustic act draws its inspiration from old Spaghetti Westerns and Quentin Tarantino films. Anyway you slice it people will be up and dancing at this show. Tickets are $15.

Oldies But Goodies            Aug. 8 – 20      Broadway Theatre

Forget boy bands, this show is about what happens when you put four musical legends on the same stage. Million Dollar Quartet  is a musical built around a recording session in 1956 with Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins and Jerry Lee Lewis. This show is full of songs you can sing along to. The show is produced by Regina’s Globe Theatre and it’s got a powerhouse cast. Tickets are $45

Ex Is Back!            Aug. 9-14     Exhibition Grounds

The Saskatoon Ex is back with a bang! The 6 day celebration is full of rides, food and of course a huge lineup on the grandstand. The party kicks off with Canada’s own Serena Ryder (Aug. 9) and followed the next day by X Ambassadors (Aug. 10). The roster also includes Simple Plan (Aug. 11), Brett Kissel (Aug. 12) and Tom Cochrane with Red Rider (Aug. 13). There’s so much going on all over the grounds, you have to go to the website to flesh out your own to do list. Admission is $9-$16 which gets you in the door but budget for more.
