Brit’s Picks June 2 – 9, 2016

Colter Wall / capitalclubyxe.ca

Colter Wall will be hitting the stage at Capitol Music Club Thursday.

Brooding Baritone                                                      Thurs.      Capitol Music Club

One listen to the smooth, deep voice of Colter Wall will instantly take you back to a time where music was simple and often about hard times. He’s been compared to Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan but we can proudly call Wall one of our own. He released his debut album last summer and has been touring ever since. You can catch Colter Wall Thursday night in our fair city.

Festival for the Littles                          Sat. – Tues.     Kiwanis Park

Pack up the stroller, snacks and of course a well stocked diaper bag and head out with the kids this weekend. The PotashCorp Children’s Festival of Saskatchewan is back with a ton of fun. You can watch the high flying action of The Silver Starlets and The Hockey Circus show at the brand new Outdoor stage or head inside the big top for music by festival favourite Norman Foote. There are so many acts its impossible to list them all! This year $10 will get you in the gate and allow you to see as many shows as you like as well as take in all the on site activities. Don’t miss the new Art francais tent as well as old favourites like the Lego build and the fossil find.

River Front Runway                                      Sunday         River Landing Ampitheatre

It’s bright, vibrant and locally made. The best of Saskatoon’s fashion industry will be on display this weekend at River Landing. The Saskatoon Fashion & Design Festival is marking it’s 5th year by doing things a little different. The festival has set aside it’s more formal runway show (now a Fall event) and instead is focusing on Pose. This is a full day of fashion shows, market vendors and pop-up shops as well as art and music performances. The best part? It’s absolutely free and family friendly. Although, you may want to bring some cash for shopping… you’ve been warned!
